Kolby Smith Named FCB Athlete of the Week for Feb. 16

WETUMPKA, Ala. - Wrestling's Kolby Smith has been selected as the First Community Bank Athlete of the Week for Feb. 16. This past weekend, Smith won the AHSAA 6A Individual State Championship for the 113 pound weight class in Hunstville. As only a freshman, Smith posted a season record of 39-2, a whopping 95% win percentage. In the championship match, the 9th grader won in a 6-5 decision over Pell City's Zedak Pabst, who entered with a 52-13 record. Coach Josh Highland credited his work ethic as a major role in helping Smith earn a state championship. "He works as hard as anybody in the weight room and is always willing to do the extra work," said Highland. "It finally paid off for him, and he won the moment."
