RB Jordan Smoke Selected as FCB Athlete of the Week for Sept. 21
Junior RB Jordan Smoke became the first Indian to reach the century mark on the ground in the Indians' 28-6 homecoming victory over Percy Julian.
WETUMPKA, Ala. — Junior RB Jordan Smoke has been selected as the First Community Bank Athlete of the Week for Sept. 21. Smoke delivered a milestone performance Friday night, becoming the first Wetumpka running back to eclipse 100 rushing yards in a game this season. The junior helped power the Indians to a 28-6 homecoming victory over Percy Julian, carrying 14 times for 106 yards and averaging 7.6 yards per attempt. Smoke provided Wetumpka with a steady presence in the backfield throughout the night. His ability to find running lanes and pick up yards after contact helped keep the Indians' offense moving. One of Smoke's biggest contributions came during Wetumpka's second scoring drive. After a 25-yard completion from Karsen Tate to Deon Floyd moved the Indians downfield, Smoke broke through the middle for another first down and carried Wetumpka inside the Percy Julian 10-yard line. Smoke continued to produce as the game progressed, helping Wetumpka control possession and protect its lead. With 106 yards on the ground, Smoke became the first Indian to reach triple digits rushing in a game this season and gave Wetumpka another weapon to lean on as it improved to 4-1. Smoke and the Indians will be back on the road this Friday as they take on the Smiths Station Panthers at 7:00 PM.
