XC's Jessilyn Oliver named FCB Athlete of the Week for Oct. 6

WETUMPKA, Ala. - Cross Country freshman Jessilyn Oliver has been named this week's First Community Bank Athlete of the Week after carding a personal best 5K time of 22:29 at the Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville, Ala. Oliver's previous fastest time was notched earlier this season at the Early Bird Twilight Classic, where she finished with a time of 22:13. Oliver's 22:29 is the fastest time ran by a member of the Women's Cross Country team in at least three seasons, coming in just her fifth race as a freshman. Her 22:29 time was good enough for 143rd place, nearly 100 spots ahead of the next Wetumpka finisher. Oliver and the rest of the Indians' Cross Country team will cross the starting line again on Oct. 11 at the Volunteer Fall Classic in Lineville, Ala.
